More time given to question murder suspects

Two men and a woman are held for a further 36 hours

Officers investigating the death of a man in Bridgnorth have today (Monday, 18 June) been given extra time to question three people arrested on suspicion of murder.

The man's body was found in a first-floor flat in Old School Mews, off the High Street on Thursday (14 June). The man who is believed to be aged 57 has not yet been formally identified.

Magistrates in Shropshire have granted police a further detention period to allow additional questioning of two men and a woman from the West Midlands who were arrested on Saturday, 16 June.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Tonks who is leading the murder investigation for West Mercia Police said: "A post mortem into the man's death was held last Friday. Results indicate that he died from head injuries.

"A man in his 50s from Tipton, Sandwell a man in his 30s from Perry Barr, Birmingham and a woman in her 20s from Aston, Birmingham remain in police custody in connection with the 57 year old's death, and detectives have been given an extra 36 by hours by magistrates to question them.

"A 30 year old Telford woman who was arrested in connection with the inquiry on Thursday was released yesterday (Sunday) without charge.

"I would like to thank everyone so far who has come forward with information in relation to this incident and I would appeal to any members of the public who may have any further details about the man's death to get in touch."
