Police name Wolverhampton murder victim

23-year-old Thomas Kirwan was stabbed outside Uberra nightclub

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses as investigations continue into the murder of a man outside the Uberra nightclub in Wolverhampton this weekend.

The victim has been named as 23-year-old Thomas Kirwan from Oxley. He suffered stab wounds after fighting broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning and was pronounced dead at hospital.

Detective Inspector Warren Hines said: "The altercation started inside the club and a number of people were ejected.

"We need to identify everyone who was in the vicinity of the club at the time. It is important that anyone who we haven’t spoken to comes forward.

"We are following up a number of significant lines of enquiry and someone may have vital information to help us piece together the events of the night.”

Wednesfield Road at the junction with ring road St Davids remains closed this morning as Forensic Scene Investigators examine the scene.
