Police want to talk to have a go hero

Sunday, June 24th 2012 09:11

Man tackled alleged burglar

Detectives in Wolverhampton are appealing for help to find a have-a-go hero who intervened in an alleged attempted burglary earlier this year.

Officers are keen to speak to the man who stepped in during an incident on Sweetman Street in the early hours of Tuesday 27 March.

Police were called to the address at around 1:20am by a man who reported someone had attempted to walk into his property.

However, the alleged burglar was stopped by an unknown member of the public, who knocked him to the ground.

A 37-year-old man was later arrested at the scene and currently remains on bail in relation to this alleged offence.

Detective Inspector Phil Cape, from Wolverhampton Police CID, said: "Our investigation is now at the point where we need to speak to the 'have-a-go-hero' who we have so far been unable to trace.

"I would reassure him that he's not in any trouble and we only wish to establish his version of events in order to take this inquiry forward."

The man, or anyone who knows who he may be, is asked to call Wolverhampton Police CID on 101.
