We’re Back! The Newport Nocturne is returning in 2018!

Experience pro level cycle racing like you have never seen it before…on the cobbled streets of Newport, Shropshire – under floodlights!

Riders race a closed circuit in the historic market town only inches from amazed spectators. To be part of this unique night come along on Saturday 18 August, bring family and friends as the event has something for everyone, including stalls, street food and a festival atmosphere.

The UK’s original floodlit bike race, which was last run in 2014, has been resurrected as a tribute to Michael Jeggo, who sadly passed away this year. Michael was the founder of the Nocturne and promoted the National Pro Road Race four times in the 80s and 90s.

The 11th Newport Nocturne also brings back the third women’s race added to the programme, first introduced in 2012 See the full schedule below:

6.00 pm : Galliers Homes ‘Come and Ride the course’ a free community event and opportunity for anyone with a road worthy bicycle and helmet (compulsory) to come and try out the course in a gentle fashion and experience the atmosphere of the Newport Nocturne. Ideal for families and children.

7.10 pm : Ludgate Finance Women’s Nocturne

8.00 pm : Supersprint Competition

8.35 pm : Ludgate Finance Women’s Nocturne prize giving

9.00 pm : Schwalbe Tyres UK Newport Nocturne and presentations

10.20 pm : Finish

Please note: Aside from ‘Come and ride the course’ at 6:00pm, the cycling course is NOT open to the public, though you are all welcome and encouraged to spectate and engage in the festivities.
