150 Kindles have now been delivered to wards at Telford's Princess Royal Hospital and local care homes.
It's part of the Kindle Kindess campaign run by Telford & Wrekin Council to reduce loneliness and isolation during lockdown.
Public donations have reached £16,000 on project's GoFundMe page, which is aiming to raise a total of £25,000.
The council is hoping to fund another 50 devices, aimed to offset the lack of visitors in hospitals and care homes as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.
Some Android tablets will also be purchased as part of the scheme, helping care home residents and hospital inpatients keep in touch with friends and family, as well as to keep them occupied by reading ebooks and play games.
