The Countess Arms at Weston Heath was gutted by a fire which started in the early hours of this morning.
At its height sixty firefighters were on the scene accompanied by 11 appliances which was reported to Shropshire Fire and Rescue around 4am.
Crews were initially hindered in the tackling the blaze as there were bollards sealing off the former car park, and there were also water supply issues due to the location.
During the incident, emergency services closed the A41 for around two hours, until the fire was well under control.
Area Manager Simon Hardiman told Signal 107 that an investigation will begin today into the cause of the blaze and refused to rule out arson.
Two fire engines and an aerial appliance remain at the scene to dampen down.
