A man has died after coming off his motorbike in Telford.
The incident happened around 1.40pm yesterday (Tuesday 5 May) on the A442 Brockton Way in Telford.
The collision happened on the north bound slip road with the A4169.
The rider, a 30 year old man, suffered fatal injuries after his motorbike collided with a barrier.
The road was closed for a short time to allow emergency services to deal with the collision.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called by police to the RTC involving a motorbike and road sign
A West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman said: “We sent the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a BASICS doctor onboard, a land ambulance and paramedic officer to the scene.
“Upon arrival, crews found one man, who was the motorcyclist, in a critical condition. Unfortunately, it quickly became clear nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
Due to the proximity of a police vehicle at the time of the collision the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), as is standard procedure.
Chief Superintendent Tom Harding said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the collision. Due to the proximity of a police vehicle at the time of the collision the matter has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.”
