Police staff job cuts revealed

Across the region, 1751 staff and PCSO roles have been cut from forces since 2010

Data from the Home Office, analysed by the GMB Union has found a reduction of 18% in staff roles across the West Midlands

In the West Midlands force, nearly half of PCSO jobs have been lost - taking the current number from 826 to 437.

Meanwhile in the West Mercia force, there's been a total drop of 16% of staff and PCSO jobs in the last 10 years.

GMB National Officer, Rachel Harrison, said “GMB members undertake essential jobs – police forces could not function without out them but cuts are forcing the service to breaking point."

We've contacted both the West Mercia and West Midlands Police forces for a comment.
